#TelecomTuesdayTip: Device Peripherals Must be Included in Wireless Inventories

As the demand for new devices continues to increase, wireless applications are also on the rise creating challenges for wireless service telecom management. While tracking these devices through inventory checks helps a great deal, it is important to remember device peripherals when doing so. Many organizations don’t realize that peripherals such as car chargers and Bluetooth headsets can have a substantial financial impact on their budget. By tracking all of these tools within a wireless inventory, you will be equipped with a full accounting of your assets and the costs associated with them.

I agree that including peripherals at the time of obtaining management approval and placing the order is important I would disagree that tracking these low cost items as inventory makes financial sense. By providing an online catalogue of approved devices, plans and accessories and routing the request through management approval I think that organizations can enforce entitlements and impose control, helping to enforce policy & raise awareness.

I don't think that having an inventory of peripherals or accessories offers any additional cost savings or level of control beyond the order approval process.
